(AUDIO) Drake White Got His Passionate Gospel Sound From Growing Up In Church

When you listen to Drake White sing, you can hear a tremendous amount of passionate soul and gospel influence in his voice, and Drake credits growing up in church in the south for impacting the way he sings. “I grew up in northeast Alabama and my grandfather was a southern Baptist Preacher,” he says, “and there was the choir…the whole concept of the choir…my dad’s a great singer, and just the spirit of what that stands for and how to keep people’s attention and entertain and get a message across is somethin’ that I think is a pretty great thing that God’s given me the ability to do. So, I just go after it man, every time, every time I get the opportunity to sing or play in front of people.”

Drake definitely gets your attention in his latest swampy single, “It Feel Good,” which will be on his forthcoming debut album on Dot Records.
