Drake White’s new single, “It Feels Good,” was an easy one to write because it was inspired by his real life childhood memories. Drake says, “(It) was one of those songs that just fell out; me and my bass player, Philip Pence, and Mr. Derek George on a hot July day. I was just thinkin’ about growin’ up on the Coosa River in northeast Alabama and thinkin’ about all my childhood memories and growin’ up through my teenage years out there, waterskiin’ and fishin’.”
Drake says once the inspiration for the lyrics was there, “We started with a melody, we started with a groove, so it’s got that good New Orleans spice to it, with that Muscle Shoals, kind of a swampy backbeat. Yeah, that’s what we dig, that’s what we like, so ‘It Feels Good.’”
