Drake White is a great singer and a great writer, although he admits when he was very young his attempt to rhyme words would sometimes get him in trouble. He says, “We laugh about it now because I used to get in trouble rhyming. I would start rhymin’ with duck, and you know where that ends up. That’s true, like I always rhymed at a very young age, seven, eight, nine.”
Some people would consider songwriting a form of poetry, and Drake says, “Poetry always intrigued me, and I grew up in a place where guys didn’t cry. So poetry was like, I didn’t really tap into it until I was 14 or 15, and that was kind of a secretive type thing.”
Drake’s latest single, “Livin’ the Dream,” will be on his debut album for Dot Records, which will be released later this year.
