Drake White’s latest single, “Makin’ Me Look Good Again,” has a very soulful, bluesy sound to it. Drake says, “’Makin’ Me Look Good Again’ is my tribute to soul. Growing up in Alabama, I was always obsessed with soul music – Ray Charles, Otis Redding.”
While soul influenced the sound of the song, his wife Alex inspired the lyrics. Drake says, “My wife is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. The concept of when she’s standing beside me I look a lot better than when she’s not standing beside me is what this song was written off of. It’s a very special song to me, it’s one of my favorite ones on the album.”
Don’t forget, Drake has been nominated for the Grammy Artist of Tomorrow by his good friend, Zac Brown. Voting is open through February 8th. It takes less than 20 seconds to vote, and you can do so once a day here.
