Eli Young Band’s latest single is called “Break It In,” and it’s about those things in life that get better as they get broken in, like a baseball glove, a trusty pair of boots, a favorite pair of jeans, or even a relationship. Thinking about those movies where the wife or girlfriend wants the guy to get rid of something he’s broken in, that he loves, like old underwear or a ratty old recliner, we wondered if any of the guys had something like that in their lives, and lead singer Mike Eli told us a funny story. He said, “I used to wear, like, just sleeveless shirts, you know, like to hang around the house or whatever. And my wife, who was my girlfriend at the time, was moving out of her apartment and I was helping her. And we moved her couch and there were, seriously, about four or five of my sleeveless shirts that she had just hidden underneath her couch because she wanted me to stop wearing them.”
Lead guitarist James Young has a bunch of old band t-shirts from his high school days that his wife would gladly get rid of, or his excessive baseball hat collection, but so far, he’s been able to hang onto both.
Eli Young Band just kicked off their 2020 headlining tour on Valentine’s Day. You can get a complete list of cities and dates on the SHOWS page of EliYoungBand.com.
