The Eli Young Band has been making music together since they met in college and Mike Eli says, “To still be making music and going through the craziness of life together is something we’d only dreamed of when we met back in college.” When he thinks back to those days of being in school, if he was going to offer some advice to today’s college students he says he would tell them, “Something that I think I might have done right in college, was the first two years I made sure that I went to every class, I studied hard and I did well my first two years. The last two years were a little bit more of a struggle, but luckily because I did so well my first two years my GPA was still pretty solid. But, hit it hard in the beginning as much as you can. You know, and then once you get to a certain place it’s OK to kinda take a breather.”
The band just celebrated their third #1 song “Drunk Last Night,” which will be on their new album, 10,000 Towns, due out March 4th, and Mike says when he thinks back to his college days, “I wish I would’ve not been looking forward so much instead of living in the moment, cause college was a really fun experience and I think sometimes you forget to just kinda stop and enjoy it.”

Eli Young Band – advice to college students :49
Mike Eli – “If I was gonna give anyone any advise, something that I think I might have done right in college, was the first two years I made sure that I went to every class, I studied hard and I did well my first two years. The last two years were a little bit more of a struggle, but luckily because I did so well my first two years my GPA was still pretty solid. But, hit it hard in the beginning as much as you can. You know, and then once you get to a certain place it’s OK to kinda take a breather. In college it’s like sometimes you think back and it’s like, man I wish I would’ve not been looking forward so much instead of living in the moment, cause college was a really fun experience and I think sometimes you forget to just kinda stop and enjoy it.”
