CURRENT SINGLE: “Love Talking”
Eli Young Band’s latest single, “Love Talking,” is a twist on the concept of saying something to someone you may or may not mean because you’ve had a few adult beverages. In the song’s case, it’s not the alcohol talking when the guy expresses his true feelings, it’s the “Love Talking.” Lead singer Mike Eli co-wrote the song with Eric Arjes and Jeffrey East, but it was a pretty easy and unanimous yes when the rest of the band heard the demo and decided to record it. Bassist Jon Jones explains, “Over the pandemic Mike just did so much writing, and then it seemed like every week he’d be sending us a couple songs here, a couple songs there, as he was finishing up demos. And I remember the first time I heard (’Love Talking’), I immediately identified with it.”
In Jon’s case, the alcohol didn’t cause him to say things he wouldn’t if he were totally sober, but he says, “There’s been a lot of times that maybe it took a drink or two to really get the courage to say what was on my mind, but it was not the booze talking. Maybe that just kind of help me be able to express myself. So, ‘Love Talking’ made so much sense and I thought that was just a really cool sentiment. So, I was on board immediately.”
“Love Talking” is the title track off Eli Young Band’s latest album, which also features their #1 song, “Love Ain’t.”
