Jon Jones and James Young of Eli Young Band co-wrote their latest single, “Dust,” with two other guys. The song is about a young woman wanting to bust out of her small town and Jon says, “I think we started with the idea of ‘Dust’ and what does that mean, but we were also just kind of swappin’ stories of where we’re all from and, actually, all four of our wives are from really, really small towns. And I was thinkin’ about my wife, who grew up in a really small town, but she always felt like she was from a big town. I think she got out the moment she could and never looked back.”
While the guys in Eli Young Band love where they’re from in Texas and haven’t necessarily felt that need to get out, Jon says, “I just think about (my wife) in that song, her character and that she was just sick of everything and just couldn’t wait to get away, and that’s kinda the sentiment of the song.”
“Dust” is featured on Eli Young Band’s latest album, 10,000 Towns.

Jon Jones – “I think we started with the idea of “Dust” and what does that mean, but we were also just kind of swappin’ stories of where we’re all from and, actually, all four of our wives are from really, really small towns. I think she got out the moment she could and never looked back and I just think about her in that song, her character and that she was just sick of everything and just couldn’t wait to get away, and that’s kinda the sentiment of the song. The song that we can all agree with, with our personal lives.”
