(AUDIO) ELI YOUNG BAND WILL NOT MISS THE MONOTONY OF HOME COOKED MEALS AFTER THE PANDEMIC

One thing a lot of people, including the Eli Young Band, learned during quarantine is that figuring out and eating three meals a day can be challenging and quite monotonous.  “Staring at the same four walls day after day after day, and cookin’ the same meals day after day after day,” says bassist Jon Jones, “I think one thing that kinda comes to the front of my head is like, we’ve gotten into a routine where every third or fourth day has become leftover dinner. Where we just reheat stuff that’s left over from the past few nights.  And I’m really excited for that to end.  But it’s really just made me realize, like how much I appreciate restaurants and people that cook every single night, and that I don’t think I’m built for that.”

EYB lead singer Mike Eli admits that he and his family still found ways to have other people do the cooking. “It’s really hard not to UberEats,” he says.  “Obviously it gets really expensive if you continue to do it over and over again, but I’ve realized how repetitive dinner is.  It comes every day.”

Mike and Jon both laugh as parents because they say, “When you’re feeding kids … Those guys eat like three or four meals a day.”

Besides missing not having to do all the cooking and the meal planning, the guys in Eli Young Band were ecstatic to get back together in one room last month to begin promoting their  new single, “Saltwater Gospel (Fins Up version)” with Jimmy Buffett.  It was the first time they had been together in person since the start of the pandemic.

Mike – “I saw that on Instagram.”

Jon – “I did take a picture on Instagram, yeah.”
