Eli Young Band has spent most of their life as a band on the road. They are a touring band, so having so much time off the road in 2020 has definitely been a challenge to keep themselves from going stir crazy not being able to get out and play live shows. One way lead singer Mike Eli has been filling his time is by cooking. He says, “I love cooking. That’s one of my favorite things to do.”
Like a lot of guys, Mike loves cooking outside on the grill, or more recently, he’s really been getting into using his smoker to make full meals. “I love to smoke,” says Mike. “Kind of recently have gotten into that over the last few years. So, I love to take some dishes and be able to make side dishes in the smoker.”
Eli Young Band’s bass player, Jon Jones, also loves to cook, but with two small children, he says he’s been stuck making a lot of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese during the pandemic, which has definitely gotten old and doesn’t allow for a lot of creativity in the kitchen.
