When the Eli Young Band isn’t on the road, they all have kids that they love to spend time with, whether it’s taking them to school or to their extra-curricular activities, or even just playing with them at home. Bass player Jon Jones says, “I love card games with my son I love chess. He actually really enjoys chess at a young age and he doesn’t mind losing. He doesn’t get frustrated. He’s willing to learn – it seems like every game he gets better.”
Playing chess is something Jon did with his dad when he was a little kid, and he says, “My dad never let me win. I never once beat my dad, but I’m pretty sure my son – I don’t plan on letting him win – but I’m pretty sure he’s gonna beat me at some point. He’s a smart little guy.”
One of the reasons Eli Young Band’s time with their kids is so precious is because they’re often away from home, touring and making promotional appearances for their latest single, “Break It In.”
