When Mike Eli of Eli Young Band isn’t busy writing songs, like the band’s latest single, “Turn It On,” which he co-wrote with bandmate James Young and song writers Rodney Clawson and Matt Dragstrem, he loves to read. He says, “Some of my favorite books have been Michael Crichton books and Steven King books, I’m a total nerd like that.”
The last Stephen King book he read was Inside the Dome, which he recommends, if you’re looking for a good read, but he says, “Then they made a TV show about it, which was a little frustrating ‘cause the TV show has it’s little idiosyncrasies and these little things that aren’t quite like the book, but you kind a have to let that go a little bit.”
He also realizes not everyone may have been bothered by the TV show’s deviations because he says, “I’m a total nerd about Steven King and Michael Crichton.”
Eli Young Band is working on a new studio album to follow up their latest album, 10,000 Towns, but in the meantime you can download their EP, Turn It On, wherever digital music is sold.
