Mike Eli and Jon Jones of the Eli Young Band are both fathers to young kids, but Mike says they haven’t necessarily started turning out a bunch of songs about their kids for their next album. “My daughter, when we got home from the hospital I actually wrote her a lullaby,” says Mike. “It’s not on an album. So that’s fun ‘cause I got to record a little guitar vocal of the lullaby that we sing to her.”

One thing Mike has loved is his baby girl’s vague recognition of the band’s music. “My wife had these Belly Buds that she would play our music through (when she was pregnant), and so anytime I’d start singing one of our songs or something, (my daughter’s) eyes kinda go that way like she knows it and she hasn’t quite put it together. It’s pretty fun.”

The Eli Young Band just scored their latest #1 song with “Drunk Last Night” before the Christmas break, and they’re looking forward to releasing the follow-up to their Life At Best Album early this year.
