Florida Georgia Line recently joined Jason Aldean for a belated celebration of his #1 song, “Burnin’ it Down,” which Brian and Tyler co-wrote. The guys actually wrote the song a couple of years ago when they were working on the deluxe edition of their Here’s to the Good Times: This Is How We Roll album. They loved the song and held onto it for a few months before they ultimately realized it just didn’t fit with the music they were recording at that time.
They decided to pitch the song to Jason. He loved it, recorded it and made it a #1 song, but Florida Georgia Line says they never regretted letting the song go, even after it became a big hit for Jason, because Brian Kelley explains, “That’s why we moved to Nashville, man. We moved to Nashville as dreamers, as song writers wantin’ to hear our songs on Country radio, and God’s been really good to us.”
“Furthermore,” Brian says, “The coolest thing about that whole experience was bein’ on tour with Jason and watchin’ that song blow up. Watchin’ the fans live that out. You can’t argue that, you can’t argue the heat of that song. It was cool kind a ridin’ that wave with him, man. It was very special.”
Right now the guys are climbing the charts with a song they didn’t write, the title track to their latest CD, “Anything Goes,” which is already in the top 15.

Florida Georgia Line – Burnin’ It Down 1:05
Brian Kelley – “That song, the day we wrote it we thought it was cool, we thought it was special. We lived with it for months and months. Months went by, we were in the process of recordin’, basically, record 1.5, which had ‘This is How We Roll’, and some other songs, and for some reason that one just didn’t kinda make it. We thought maybe album two. I remember Tyler and I were at the gym on the road and texted Seth, our manager, said, ‘Hey, I think we’re okay to let ‘Burnin’ it Down’ go. Send it to Jason and see what he thinks. He immediately put it on hold and cut it, and that’s why we moved to Nashville, man. We moved to Nashville as dreamers, as song writers wantin’ to hear our songs on Country radio, and God’s been really good to us. We’ve worked really hard and the cool thing about Nashville is the co-writing. A song can’t happen without a lot a people comin’ together, a lot a good vibes and a lot a magic kinda happening. It’s like winning the Lottery gettin’ a number one song. You can’t take it for granted, you gotta be very grateful and thankful and I think, furthermore, the coolest thing about that whole experience was bein’ on tour with Jason and watchin’ that song blow up. Watchin’ the fans live that out. You can’t argue that, you can’t argue the heat of that song. It was cool kind a ridin’ that wave with him, man. It was very special.”
