(AUDIO) FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE EXPLAINS WHY ‘CAN’T SAY I AIN’T COUNTRY’ IS THEIR FIRST ALBUM THEY CO-PRODUCED

When Florida Georgia Line released their new album, Can’t Say I Ain’t Country, it was the first time they were listed as co-producers, alongside Joey Moi, on one of their own albums. Tyler Hubbard explains, “A lot of the production happens in the writing room – a lot of the ideas and the sounds,” so in a way, they were contributing to the production of their albums already.

But Tyler is quick to point out, “We don’t want to take anything away from what Joey Moi does. We call him a genius. We call him a wizard. I mean, he’s just next level. But we’ve learned so much from him over the years as well, it just felt like it was kind of time to say, ‘Hey, you know, we have our hand in every step of the process,’ even down to the mixing notes and the little tiny tweaks here and there. BK and I are really particular about it. ‘So why not at least be co-producers on this project?’”

Tyler and BK actually have producer credits on other artists’ projects, and they felt like taking on that role on their own album could open up more opportunities to produce and co-produce even more things in the future.  But again, Tyler is quick to point out, “Definitely not to take away from anything Joey does, I mean he’s the mastermind behind the FGL sound.”

FGL co-produced every song on their Can’t Say I Ain’t Country album, including their latest single, “Talk You Out of It.”

Florida Georgia Line – why first co-producing credit :56

Tyler Hubbard – “A lot of the production happens in the writing room –a lot of the ideas and the sounds. Granted, we don’t want to take anything away from what Joey Moi does. ‘So why not at least be co-producers on this project?’ And I don’t know why we haven’t done it before. I think we just sort of haven’t even thought about it.  But as we move along in our career, you know, there’s other projects we’ve co-produced on and worked on and it kind of just opened up the door a little bit to say, ‘Hey we co-produced our stuff. We should definitely be co-producers on the thing, and maybe that’ll open up more opportunities to produce and co-produce other artists’ projects and things like that.’  But like I said, definitely not to take away from anything Joey does, I mean he’s the mastermind behind the FGL sound.”
