Florida Georgia Line has been accused of stretching the boundaries of country music and being on the forefront of the “bro country” movement, which is often hotly debated, but Brian Kelley says they’re no different than artists like Johnny Cash and Hank Jr., who were accused of pushing the limits back in their time. “At their time they were doin’ the same thing we’re doin’ now, it’s just a different time, different technology, different influences,” he says. “So, it’s just the same argument.”
Whatever people want to call Florida Georgia Line’s brand of country, Brian says, “I think Country Music’s bigger than labels, Bro Country and what not. I think good music is good music, period. We’re excited and proud as hell to be a part of Country Music. I don’t think we’re focused on tryin’ to take it a certain place, we’re just excited about creating music that we love, that our fans love, that they can be excited to come to our shows and forget whatever’s goin’ on in their life.”
Florida Georgia Line’s new album, Anything Goes, featuring their latest hit single, “Dirt,” will be released on October 14th.

Florida Georgia Line – pushing country music boundaries :37
Brian Kelley – “Well at their time they were doin’ the same thing we’re doin’ now, it’s just a different time, different technology, different influences. So, it’s just the same argument Johnny Cash, Hank Jr., you know. I think Country Music’s bigger than labels, Bro Country and what not. I think good music is good music, period. We’re excited and proud as hell to be a part of Country Music. I don’t think we’re focused on tryin’ to take it a certain place, we’re just excited about creating music that we love, that our fans love, that they can be excited to come to our shows and forget whatever’s goin’ on in their life. They can come have a couple drinks and sing along, dance, watch us dance stupid and have a good time and sweat and play our music that we love with our best friends on stage.”
