(AUDIO) Florida Georgia Line Knows How Much A Song Can Change Through The Recording Process

Sometimes when an artist records a song, it ends up sounding drastically different than the demo version they first heard of the song. Florida Georgia Line knows how true that can be, even if it’s a song they wrote and recorded the demo for themselves. Brian Kelley says, “This is our own song but, Tyler can attest to this, the day that ‘Cruise’ was written, the work tape, little terrible thing that I made on GarageBand, sounds completely different than what you hear today. Completely different.”

Brian says the difference makers were their producer Joey Moi and the ability to spend some time with the song making it the best it could be. “(Joey) challenged us to get back in the studio and grind and we added, ‘…put it in park, grab my guitar…’, that whole (section) …that was added, tightened up some lyrics… It’s crazy what a amazing producer and a little extra time can do.”

Florida Georgia Line’s latest single is “Anything Goes,” the title track from their current album. While they promote that they’re also working on their next album, which they hope to finish up sometime in the fall.

Florida Georgia Line – different than the demo :39
Brian Kelley – “I would have to say, I mean, this is our own song but, Tyler can attest to this, the day that ‘Cruise’ was written, the work tape, little terrible thing that I made on GarageBand, sounds completely different than what you hear today. Completely different. It’s all about makin’ the song the best it can be. He challenged us to get back in the studio and grind and we added, ‘…put it in park, grab my guitar…’, that whole…that was added, tightened up some lyrics and added the (makes guitar lick sound). Joey knew right when Ilya played that, that that was it. He had him go back and play that again. He knew that was the money. It’s worlds different. It’s crazy what a amazing producer and a little extra time can do.”
