(AUDIO) HALLOWEEN WAS MORE LIKE THE 4TH OF JULY FOR DIERKS BENTLEY WHEN HE WAS GROWING UP

current single: “AMERICAN GIRL” (from Petty Country tribute album)

Dierks Bentley grew up in Arizona, where he and his friends were more concerned with having a bang up time on Halloween than they were with getting candy or dressing up in costumes.

Dierks Bentley – Halloween fireworks :26

“When I was a kid, man, I was all into fireworks. You know, growing up in Arizona, we couldn’t get ’em, so we’d have ’em shipped in illegally. Still remember the name of the guy we’d call. His name was Joe, and he’d ship ’em in a package with no writing on ’em. We were all about the M80s in the mailboxes and bottle rockets. When I was a kid, Halloween was fireworks. It was blowing stuff up around home.”
