In a lot of ways, Hank Jr. has come full circle in his career. There was a time at the beginning of his career that fans wanted to hear ONLY his daddy’s songs. And he still sings those, but now they want to hear songs he wrote himself.
First on the charts as a teenager in the sixties, he has a loyal fan base that’s seen him through it all, but he continues to reach a younger audience too. The fact that his current album, It’s About Time, debuted as the highest charting album of his career is definite proof. His age range of fans makes him a bit of a phenomenon in country music…

“They said Hank you gotta realize, your secret is you have young listeners, you have young fans. They know about Uncle Kracker, and Kid Rock, and Snoop Dog, and on and on. They know about all that stuff. And uh, I thought man, it’s kinda good.”
More Hank Jr. Notes
Hank’s first hit was “Long Gone Lonesome Blues.” It was released in 1964, just a couple of months before his 15th birthday.
