(AUDIO) Hank Jr. Rings In New Year With The Blast Of A Cannon!

There are a lot of superstitions about what you should and shouldn’t do on New Year’s Day. Hank Jr. says to forget about the one that that warns you not to wash clothes, that one doesn’t matter. Instead, he laughed and said, “Black-eyed peas and ham on New Year’s Day or you’ll lose every football game. You gotta have black-eyed peas and ham!”

And when it comes to “Ringing in the new year”…Just like you would expect, Bocephus does it loudly, and in his very own unique, Hank way…

Hank Jr. – machine guns and cannons :25
“I used to have a machine gun, so if it was 1989 or 1996, I’d get a belt and put 96 rounds in it and I’d hold the trigger down. That woke em up pretty good. Now I have a civil war cannon (makes explosion sound)…‘Daddy can you shoot the cannon again?’ A real Civil War cannon with about 2 pounds of powder is a New Year’s you won’t forget.”

Hank Jr. Notes
Hank Jr. has a song on his new album (out Jan 15) called “God and Guns.”
Superstition has it that washing clothes on New Year’s Day is equal to washing away a person, or having a person die in the upcoming year. Yikes!
A tradition that started in the south, black-eyed peas symbolizes coins, and eating them is supposed to bring money for the coming year.
