(AUDIO) Hank Jr. Says Songwriting Motivation For His New Album Came From Listening To Bad Songs

Hank Jr.’s new album, It’s About Time, debuted at #2 on the Billboard album chart, making it his biggest debut week ever.

Hank says that he listens to his daughter Holly about how music sells these days, and says, “Music goes in cycles and I think county music that sounds more traditional may be making its way back.”

For Hank, his sound has never really gone away. The Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame member wrote a good portion of his new songs and says his motivation for writing came from an unexpected source…

Hank – songwriting motivation :21
“The greatest thing in the world is when they send me these 25 or 40 songs…it’s the greatest motivator in the world because it makes Bocephus go write his own. I say, uh are you kidding me? It really helps. I mean it really does. You gotta be kidding me. They actually think someone is gonna record that… (Laughs) So it’ll make you write songs.”
