Lady A has been a band and been touring together for over 15 years, so they’ve had plenty of chances to hear fans sing their songs back to them in concert, but Dave Haywood vividly remembers one of the first times they experienced it early on in their career. “I’d have to go back to probably like ‘I Run to You,’ over a decade ago, which is crazy to say,” Dave shares “But you know, that was our first number one. Some songs kinda lend themselves to like a crowd sing-along moment, but that one, I remember there was a moment where we would get everyone to sing that chorus back. [singing] ‘This world keeps spinnin’ faster …’ And just to hear people do that for the first time, it’s nuts!”
All these years later, hearing fans sing their lyrics has never gotten old for Lady A. In fact, Dave says, “We do that on a couple songs, where you get the crowd to kinda sing back to ya, and it’s almost like a holy moment in the show to think about the journey we’ve been on, and where we are today, and how our music’s impacted so many people.”
These days, Lady A has so many hits in their set list that fans sing along to practically every song, but Dave says, “‘I Run to You’ being the first big number one for us, that one is definitely a great live show moment.”
