Even though Brett Young hadn’t proposed yet to his now wife, Taylor, when he wrote his latest single, “Here Tonight,” that’s the night he goes to in his mind when he hears the song because it was a night he had to remind himself to stay in the moment. Brett recalls, “I remember, I proposed, she said yes, and then the first thing we did – because we were excited – was we started FaceTiming friends and family. But I remember in the middle of that process of FaceTiming we kind of had this realization that like, we’re not really being present in the moment right now. Like we just got engaged and now we’re taking it to the streets. We need to put the phone down and we need to be in this moment together.”
So that’s what they did. They put away their phones and Brett says, “The moment we decided to just be in the moment, from that moment on, it was one of the best moments, I think, in my life. And so ‘Here Tonight’ and being in the moment, that makes me think of the night that she said yes.”
