With as much time as the guys in Eli Young Band spend on the road touring, while their wives take care of the kids and everything at home, they know that Mother’s Day is always an extra special holiday that they can’t mess up. Bass player Jon Jones points out, “We’re usually flying home or coming home on the bus on a Sunday, and so you have to do a little bit of pre-prep so you’re not ending up at the store getting the last dozen roses that are out there.”
While Mother’s Day happens just once a year, for Eli Young Band, it’s more than just one day because Jon says, “We lean on our wives for more than most do because we’re gone so much, and we’ve got some really strong women at home keeping lights on. So they definitely deserve a lot of credit and they deserve more than a day. So when there is just that one day, gotta make it special.”
This year, Eli Young Band will be traveling home from Florida on Mother’s Day, so hopefully they’ve already worked out their Mother’s Day plans. And next Sunday could be a dual celebration, because EYB’s latest song, “Love Ain’t,” is currently sitting at number two on the charts, which means there’s a good possibility it could land at #1 by Mother’s Day.
