CURRENT SINGLE: “Longneck Way to Go” w/ Jon Pardi
Everything about Midland, from their musical styling to their outfits, has a throwback vibe to it that harkens back to the late 70’s and early 80’s. While the guys enjoy the fashion and the music from that era, lead singer Mark Wystrach says what draws them to that time is so much more than that.
Midland – why attracted to era Mark :50
Mark Wystrach – “It was a simpler time. There was a payphone outside, people didn’t have a cell phone. People were connected, and when they went out on a Friday night after workin’ their asses off and saving up their money, they went and put on their best, and they all looked like country music stars. But there was a certain sense back then where you got dressed up and it was Friday night. You might meet your wife that night, so you’re gonna shine up your Chevy C 20 and you’re gonna put on your best pair of dirty Wranglers and your shirt, and you’re gonna be havin’ some drinks, maybe ready to fight if somebody crosses you or steps in the way of you getting what you want, maybe that dance with a girl. And you’re gonna spend that whole night celebrating being there, being present. Everything about that era because of that feeling is what I look up to, because it’s kind of like reliving, I think, a really beautiful time of connectivity when people were truly not afraid to be themselves.”
Midland is currently climbing the charts with Jon Pardi, another guy who appreciates the throwback honkytonk sounds of country music, with their song, “Longneck Way to Go.”
