DEBUT SINGLE – “Don’t Come Lookin’”
Jackson Dean has quite a few tattoos, including one that looks like a tribal band of sorts, featuring long black triangles that encircle his left forearm. Jackson says the tattoo is a variation on one he saw in the 1992 film The Last of The Mohicans.
Jackson Dean – arm tattoo :25
“This was Daniel Day-Lewis‘ tattoo in The Last of The Mohicans. I was gonna get… One of my favorite quotes of all time was, ‘Live not by another man’s leave, beholden to none.’ And then I realized that I didn’t want words on my body. I got particular about it for some reason. So, I just got his tattoo and then blacked it out, and it was three sessions of just pounding black into my arm. It took a while.”
In the movie, Daniel Day-Lewis only had the outlines of the triangles on his arm, but as Jackson explained, he decided to make his version of the tattoo more pronounced by having the triangles completely filled in with black ink.
The quote Jackson originally contemplated getting tattooed on his body was also from The Last of The Mohicans:
Hawkeye (played by Daniel Day-Lewis):
“After seven years indentured service in Virginia, they headed out here ’cause the frontier’s the only land available to poor people. Out here, they’re beholden to none. Not living by another’s leave.”
