current single: “HEAVENS TO BETSY

Jackson Dean has a song named “Duct Tape Heart” on his latest album, On the Back of My Dreams, and he says it was partially inspired by a childhood obsession and his favorite Christmas gift he received a few years in a row.

Jackson Dean – duct tape Christmas :33

“So, when I was a kid, I had a whole workbench. I mean, my father was a bricklayer, so he had a giant shop out back, and he got tired of me using his tools, and he put me a workbench – I guess I was 10, 11 years old – in the dang living room. It was a little workbench. I had a little vice and Dremel and whatnot. But I used to make stuff all the time, and there was like three Christmases in a row where I got nothing but duct tape. I had an obsession. I would make duct tape wallets, and it just happens. It happens with boys, it’s a thing. But I had all the Gorilla Tapes, all the neons, the camos and all of it.”
