(AUDIO) JACKSON DEAN’S “HEAVENS TO BETSY” DEALS WITH HARD SUBJECTS BUT WAS EASY TO WRITE

current single: “HEAVENS TO BETSY

Jackson Dean’s latest song, “Heavens to Betsy” was a title one of his co-writers brought to the writing room the day they got together, but they had no idea where Jackson’s interpretation of the phrase would take the song. And even though the subject matter of the song is pretty heavy, Jackson says the song was actually pretty easy to write once they got started.

“Driver Williams walked through the door with that title and that was one of the first things that came out of his mouth. And it was really just a flash of the picture frame that happened in my head because I didn’t know that that was an expression. I didn’t grow up around that, I’m from the East Coast. But I don’t remember it being difficult at all. It was not a hard write. It was very easy. It really came out without a fuss. But that song is a CB transmission from purgatory of little white lies told, you know. And it’s not only about him looking down on her.  He’s not through the gates yet. He’s right there on the outside of it, and now he wants to be a little guardian angel for his kid. And somebody brought it to my attention the other day that this can serve as a reminder that it’s never really too late to right you wrongs, you know. The point of no return is usually a little bit further than you think.”
