CURRENT SINGLE: “How They Remember You”
Most of the time when you ask a singer to choose their favorite album or song of theirs, they can’t, because they say it would be like picking a favorite child. But as Rascal Flatts reflects back on their 20 years of making music together, Jay DeMarcus says, without a doubt, “I think our Joshua Tree [U2’s iconic album that transformed their career] is Me and My Gang. I feel like we were hitting our stride, we were confident in who we were as musicians and singers and performers.”
Me and My Gang was released in 2006, and was Rascal Flatts’ fourth studio album, and the first time they worked with Dann Huff as their producer, and Jay says, “I feel like we brought the best of who we were collectively into that room. And the energy was palpable the first time we were all tracking together with Dann. And I never will forget how I felt at the end of having tracked that record, like we had been a part and done something really, really special in our career”
Fourteen years and seven studio albums later, Jay says recording Me and My Gang “will always stand out as a watershed moment for me in our careers, and my favorite record on the whole, collectively.”
