(AUDIO) JENNIFER NETTLES BELIEVES YOU SHOULDN’T MAKE SOMEONE A PRIORITY WHO ONLY MAKES YOU AN OPTION

While Jennifer Nettles’ latest single, “Unlove You,” is about a woman aching but unable to let go of a man who doesn’t love her in the way she loves him, Jennifer thinks, at least she hopes, she has never really been in that situation, where she made someone a priority when they only made her an option.  Thinking back on her pre-marital days she says, “It’s kind of hard for me to say.  I would have to go back in the Rolodex, not that there are that many, but it has been a while.  I don’t recall ever truly feeling that way, and I do have, I don’t know if I have a strong sense of self or if I have a fragile ego, but I definitely, you know, like anyone else, crave and yearn to be, and in my highest self, know that I deserve to be a priority, or at the very least that that’s the kind of relationship that I want to be in.”

While plenty of women and men have lived the heartache she sings about in “Unlove You,” Jennifer hopes that at some point we could all have the strength to know we deserve to be a priority when it comes to being loved.
