(AUDIO) JENNIFER NETTLES DISCOVERED HER LOVE OF ACTING EARLY ON

Jennifer Nettles just released her new song, “I Can Do Hard Things,” and besides being a great singer and songwriter, she is also a great actress, which is something she has enjoyed doing since she was young.  “I grew up doing theater,” says Jennifer, “and I did it all through school and all through college and it has been something and a place and a home to which I had wanted to return for quite a while.”

Fortunately for Jennifer, her music career has been so successful that it has demanded a lot of her time and attention, but she’s found ways, when the part and the timing are right, to exercise her acting muscle.  When Sugarland took their five-year break, Jennifer says, “(I) was allowing myself a different journey and allowing myself to be opened to new things and sort of outside of my comfort zone, I dipped back into those waters.  And I am blown away constantly that the success that I’ve had as a musician has allowed me re-entree into the acting world at such a level. I’m pretty blown away by that, but acting in general is something that I had done off and on throughout my life, just never professionally until now.”

Jennifer has starred on Broadway in the musical “Chicago.”  She also starred as Dolly Parton’s mother in the Coat of Many Colors TV specials that aired around the holidays on NBC over the last couple of years, and there’s no doubt that as time permits, Jennifer will find more opportunities to act, and possibly more opportunities to combine her love of music and her love of acting.

“I grew up doing theater. And I did it all through school and all through college and it has been something and a place and a home to which I had wanted to return for quite a while. But fortunately, my music career was so successful that it required much of my time and focus. And then of course once I went solo and was allowing myself a different journey and allowing myself to be opened to new things and sort of outside of my comfort zone, I dipped back into those waters.  And I am blown away constantly that the success that I’ve had as a musician has allowed me re-entree into the acting world at such a level. I’m pretty blown away by that, but acting in general is something that I had done off and on throughout my life, just never professionally until now.”
