(AUDIO) Jennifer Nettles Is Always Aware of the Impact Her Songs Can Have

People often listen to music and develop strong connections to certain songs, and Jennifer Nettles says she is always aware of the fact that her songs like “Unlove You” might be conjuring up an emotion or expressing a feeling for someone who could be going through a difficult time. She says, “I find, not only is it in my mind, it becomes a motivation and an intention. To know that I might be able to bring a smile to someone’s face or to give them a moment of reprieve, or to give them a moment in their life they won’t forget, depending on what they’re going through.”

Jennifer takes the responsibility of being the voice that someone might need to hear at that moment in their life to heart. She says, “In some ways some people might see it as a responsibility; it’s not even that. It is a gift and it is a flat-out calling, if you want me to be honest. I feel like that is really the core of what art and music is really about, is that kind a connection.”

Jennifer will wrap up the CMT Women of Country Tour at the end of this month, then she will continue headlining some of her own dates through June.
