When Jennifer Nettles looks back on 2016, she’s excited about what all she accomplished and what is to come in 2017. She put out her second solo album, Playing with Fire, and she says, “I think that for me was such a huge accomplishment because people fear change, and especially in an industry that is very fickle and can switch its allegiance on the, not only turn of a dime, but see the fresh new thing. For me to have gone solo a few years ago was a big courageous step for me and I needed to do it as an artist and I have found it so artistically fulfilling. So for me to get to put out a second solo album was a big accomplishment for me.”
She also enrolled her son Magnus in pre-school and she got to star in the second Dolly Parton movie, Christmas of Many Colors, and Jennifer says, “I just want to continue evolving in all those ways that I’ve been able to diversify, in terms of my acting, both TV and film, and on the Broadway stage.”

Jennifer Nettles – reflect on 2016 1:07
“I mean when I look back at 2016 it’s definitely been a big year. I put out Playing with Fire. I think that for me was such a huge accomplishment because people fear change, and especially in an industry that is very fickle and can switch its allegiance on the, not only turn of a dime, but see the fresh new thing. For me to have gone solo a few years ago was a big courageous step for me and I needed to do it as an artist and I have found it so artistically fulfilling. So for me to get to put out a second solo album was a big accomplishment for me. And then obviously you know to be a part of the second movie that I was a part of with Christmas of Many Colors, that was a wonderful project as well. I was on tour. I went on tour for Playing with Fire, so it’s been a busy year. And also got my son in preschool. So you know so crazy! So it’s been a big year and a rewarding year as well and I just want to continue evolving in all those ways that I’ve been able to diversify, in terms of my acting, both TV and film, and on the Broadway stage.”
