When Sugarland decided to reunite to make new music, it didn’t mean that Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush would stop pursuing solo interests outside of the duo, which is why Jennifer is back with a brand new solo song called “I Can Do Hard Things.” “My song I Can Do Hard Things it is about being a grown ass woman and what it is to hold everything,” says Jennifer. “Sometimes it isn’t just bad or good or wrong or right, that there is a lot of gray that we hold, that we are made for the hard things just as much as we are made for the joyous and easy things. And we can do it. I can do hard things.”
Jennifer says the song is an awakening of sorts that life doesn’t have to be either/or, sometimes it can be but/and. For instance, unconditional love of your children doesn’t mean there won’t be days that you don’t love motherhood. And those feelings can co-exist with one another. You can read more of Jennifer’s thoughts that inspired “I Can Do Hard Things,” in the essay she wrote when she released the song, which is available in its entirety in the news section of her website.
