(AUDIO) JENNIFER NETTLES SAYS FIRE REPRESENTS TRANSFORMATION

Jennifer Nettles latest album is called Playing with Fire, and she says she chose that title, not only because of the what the song represents, but also because she feels like “fire as an element is super transformative.”  And Jennifer says, “I feel like I have been and am going through a transformation. So you get that theme a lot throughout the record, so I thought both contextually the song and because it added the element of fire, I felt like it was a good representation of the album.”

Jennifer just released her sassy new single, “Hey Heartbreak,” off of Playing with Fire, which is all about getting over your broken heart and self-pity and kicking heartbreak to the curb.

Jennifer Nettles – explain album title  :49

“A couple of things. I think thematically, that specific song, and how it celebrates pushing oneself to her boundaries and outside of her comfort zone, and embracing the parts of herself that aren’t perfect, and realizing that those are the things that make her unique. Those sorts of themes I find throughout the music. I also find the theme of fire throughout the record and that is because from an inspiration standpoint, as a writer, fire as an element is super transformative. And I feel like I have been and am going through a transformation. So you get that theme a lot throughout the record, so I thought both contextually the song and because it added the element of fire, I felt like it was a good representation of the album.”
