Jennifer Nettles had a chance to work with BMLG President and CEO Scott Borchetta, many years ago, when Sugarland was signed to Mercury Records and Scott worked in promotions for that label. Since then, Jennifer says, “He has obviously since gone on and done so wonderfully well for himself and for the artists with whom he works and we have circled each other. I have felt often times, especially at awards shows and things, like an animal. Like a bit of, like two animals who know each other but you’re not really in each other’s sphere because you can’t be, but you’re like, ‘I know you’. Like I know the heart of you and we have wanted to make this happen, each of us, for a long time and have been waiting on the right opportunity to make that happen and I’m super excited that it’s happened with this project.”
Jennifer will release her debut album, Playing with Fire, on Big Machine Records, on May 13th. The album will feature her current single, “Unlove You.”

“Well, years ago Scott and I had the pleasure of working together back whenever I was with UMG and old Mercury, and I was just starting out with Sugarland, and he was working in promotions then and we had a wonderful time, and really had a connection, I think, at that point. I could tell he believed in the music, and I had an opportunity to see what that does when Scott Borchetta believes in your music, OK. Talk about a powder keg.
