Justin Moore is a great live performer, but he admits there are things that distract him sometimes when he’s on stage. For instance, Justin, who is a father of three young girls and a son, says, “I get distracted by kids. I’m such a softy with kids, you know, when I’m trying to hand [guitar] picks out, I’m always handing ‘em to kids, in particular little girls. I have a bit of a soft spot for them.”
The “Why We Drink” singer admits there’s also something kind of funny going on in his own head that distracts him when he’s on stage. Justin explains, “[T]he other thing I find myself doing is, you know when you go to a restaurant, you play this game with your husband or wife or girlfriend boyfriend, whatever, sometimes you try to tell what this couple or this family’s story is at the table next to you. I do that in my head on stage.”
Justin says he’ll catch himself inventing scenarios about people in his crowd, thinking things like, “Gee, I wonder if they just got engaged? … [and] I have to like snap myself back and I’m like, ‘Okay, you’ve gotta focus on what you’re doing.’”
Justin is currently out on his Late Nights and Longnecks Tour with Tracy Lawrence, so if you ever catch him looking a little distracted, he could be inventing a whole backstory in his head about people he’s seeing in the crowd. He knows it’s kind of a strange thing to do while he’s supposed to be putting on a live concert, but it happens.
