(AUDIO) JUSTIN MOORE CHANNELED THE 90’S FOR HIS LATEST ALBUM

Justin Moore has always been a more traditional country singer, and for his latest album, Late Nights and Longnecks, he decided to lean heavily on the sound of 90’s country.  When Justin thinks of 90’s country, he thinks of a more pure and basic style of music.  “When I first moved to town, you wrote a song by picking up a guitar and figuring stuff out,” explains Justin.  “And then it transitioned into you’re writin’ to tracks and this and that, and that contributed to different sounds.”

So when he thought about creating a more 90’s sound, and what it meant, he says, “I went back to writin’ songs on a guitar, not anything else. So, the songs have to lend themselves to that style of musicianship.  And then the instrumentation. I mean, it’s been a long time up until recently where you didn’t really hear steel and you didn’t hear fiddle and you didn’t hear even, in some cases, keys – honky tonk kind of piano.”

Justin and his producers even brought in studio musicians like Brent Mason on electric guitar and Paul Franklin on steel, who were staples on so many records of the 90’s.  In fact, you can hear their playing on Justin’s latest single, “Why We Drink.”
