Justin Moore just released his brand new song, “The Ones Who Didn’t Make It Back Home” on Friday, and it’s a song that was inspired by something he’s been saying for years on stage. Justin explains, “Every night before we play ‘If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,’ I set it up in a way where I let people know I had a grandfather retire out of the Navy and one in the Air Force. They, along with my mom and dad and other influences in my life, instilled in me the importance of the sacrifices that our military men and women, past, present and future, make daily to keep us free and safe in this country. And I always kinda end it by pointing out that goes well beyond our military. It’s our first responders, and firefighters and EMTs and police and nurses, teachers … And then I say, ‘Here’s to the ones that didn’t make it back home.’”
Although Justin has said that tribute on stage for years, for some reason, one night, it struck him that he should write a song about it. As fate would have it, Justin had some songwriters out on the road with him that weekend, and the next morning they were able to write the song fairly quickly. “The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home” is the first release off Justin’s next album, the follow-up to Kinda Don’t Care.
