(AUDIO) JUSTIN MOORE’S LOVE OF 90s COUNTRY MUSIC HAS COME FULL CIRCLE IN HIS OWN MUSIC

CURRENT SINGLE: “We Didn’t Have Much”

If you listen to Justin Moore’s latest album, Straight Outta the Country, and his previous album, Late Nights and Longnecks, you can hear influences of 90s country all over it.  And if you look at the writing credits on Justin’s albums, two names you will see a lot are Rhett Akins and David Lee Murphy, who had some of their own hit songs in the 90s, before they became full-time songwriters.  “I’ve been friends with those guys for a long time, and we’ve written together for a long time,” says Justin. “Rhett and I have had a lot of hits together. And I’ve written with DLM quite a bit too.”

Collaborating with Rhett and DLM definitely helped give some of Justin’s songs a true 90s country feel.  “They’re more knowledgeable than even me about 90s country,” he says.  “Obviously, they were a part of it. I didn’t specifically tell ‘em, ‘Hey, let’s write 90s country type stuff.’”

As much as Justin loves writing songs with guys like Rhett Akins and David Lee Murphy because of their talent, he admits, “The fun thing about writin’ with either one of those guys is, obviously I grew up listenin’ to ‘em, and to call ‘em friends now and have their phone number in my phone and stuff, is beyond cool.”
