CURRENT SINGLE: “Like A Lady”
Lady A’s latest single, “Like A Lady,” has some undeniable 80’s vibes to it, and it turns out that’s just what the songwriters, including Michelle Buzz, Martin Johnson, Brandon Paddock, Dave Barnes and Lady a’s Hillary Scott intended. “For ‘Like A Lady,’ the demo was laid out beautifully, and a lot of the pieces were there in place,” says Dave Haywood. “I mean we wanted to build on that and elevate it and beef it up, but it already had even more 80s than what you even hear now.”
With the help of Dann Huff, Lady A found a way to put their own spin on the original version of the song they heard on the demo. Dave says, “It had a lot of those old like, Michael Jackson drum sounds, and kind of old 80s Def Leppard sounding pieces already around the demo. So, we just tried to make it bigger and louder, stack our voices and kinda give it our Lady A thing to make sure it felt like us. So, it was a fun kind of exploration in the studio.”
“Like A Lady” is on Lady A’s What A Song Can Do: Part One project, which they just released last month.
