(AUDIO) LADY ANTEBELLUM BROKE OUT OF THE NORM TO WRITE NEW ALBUM

It’s been almost three years since Lady Antebellum released their last album, but they just announced their new album, Ocean, will be released on November 15th.  In the past, Lady Antebellum often had to fit in writing and recording an album in between tour dates and other obligations, and according to Charles Kelley, “We didn’t have much time before to write. So, it was very intentional — getting out of town and being able to write.”

Changing labels and taking a pause allowed Lady Antebellum the time and the space to write in ways that they hadn’t really done in the past.  Charles says, “We wrote a lot together, we wrote a lot separately, too, to see if something would come out. And there was definitely some honest songs that almost feel like I was able to come out with and you were able to come out with that, I think if it was all three of us, maybe we wouldn’t have come up with it that way.  And we just mixed up the process a lot.”

The result is that Lady Antebellum says their new album may be their most honest and personal and vulnerable project to date.  Ocean is available for pre-order now on ladyantebellum.com and fans will receive instant downloads of the songs they’ve released in advance, including their latest single, “What If I Never Get Over You.”

I think in the past, especially with the Heartbreak record, we didn’t have much time before to write. So, it was very intentional — getting out of town and being able to write. With this though, we wrote a lot together, we wrote a lot separately, too, to see if something would come out. And there was definitely some honest songs that almost feel like I was able to come out with and you were able to come out with that, I think if it was all three of us, maybe we wouldn’t have come up with it that way.  And we just mixed up the process a lot.”
