This year’s CMA Awards will be all about celebrating the legendary women in Country Music, and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum couldn’t be more excited to watch it all happen live. Carrie Underwood will be the host for the evening with special guest hosts, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, and Hillary says, “I’m excited to see Carrie literally carry the torch, and then with Reba and Dolly at her side, I mean you can’t have two more strong towers to be next to you in that environment. And I just think Carrie is just so confident and she’s so sure of who she is and what she’s doing, and I’m excited to have her lead the charge.”
Hillary admits it will be a little bittersweet that for the first time in 12 years Carrie won’t be co-hosting with Brad Paisley, but she also acknowledges, “Nothing can stay the same forever, and I love that it’s continuing to shed light on female country artists, continuing to move that needle, and I think it’s going to be awesome.”
Besides watching Carrie, Reba and Dolly hosting the show, Hillary can’t wait to see what they’re gonna wear and just how many wardrobe changes they’ll have between the three of them. She says, “I’m sure the outfits, not to water it down to that, but between the three of them and the wardrobe that’s another side note that I can’t wait for.”
It’s a big week for Lady Antebellum, because besides being nominated for Vocal Group of the Year, they’ll also be doing a special performance with pop star Halsey on Wednesday night’s CMA Awards, which will air live from Nashville at 8pm/7pm CT on ABC. Plus, this Friday, Lady Antebellum’s highly anticipated new album, Ocean, featuring “What If I Never Get Over You,” will finally be available.

Hillary Scott – “I’m excited to see Carrie literally carry the torch, and then with Reba and Dolly at her side, I mean you can’t have two more strong towers to be next to you in that environment. And I just think Carrie is just so confident and she’s so sure of who she is and what she’s doing, and I’m excited to have her lead the charge. It’ll be different. I would be lying if I said it wasn’t a little bittersweet just because she and Brad had such a great camaraderie and chemistry. But I think it’s gonna be awesome and nothing can stay the same forever, and I love that it’s continuing to shed light on female country artists, continuing to move that needle, and I think it’s going to be awesome. And I’m sure the outfits, not to water it down to that, but between the three of them and the wardrobe that’s another side note that I can’t wait for.”
