Charles Kelley of Lady A loves to eat at Thanksgiving, but there is one dish that absolutely grosses him out. “Ambrosia is so disgusting,” declares Charles. “What is it, it’s like coconut something, and like, marshmallows on top. So gross. I don’t even know what it is. I had it one time as a kid and it just haunts me to even think about how gross it was. I don’t know, I’d have to look it up.”
We did look it up, and according to the internet, ambrosia salad contains fruit, coconut, marshmallows, sometimes nuts and some sort of dairy, like sour cream, whipped cream, cream cheese or even mayonnaise. No matter how it’s made, Charles says, “There was a great band called Ambrosia. That’s the only thing I like about ambrosia.”
So if you ever get an invite to Charles Kelley’s house for Thanksgiving, definitely leave the ambrosia salad at home.
