(AUDIO) LADY A’S CHARLES KELLEY WAS HOOKED ON “LIKE A LADY” AFTER A LONG RUN

CURRENT  SINGLE: “Like A Lady”

Hillary Scott of Lady A co-wrote their sassy, empowering, summer anthem, “Like A Lady,” with several other writers.  When they finished writing it, Hillary knew it could be a great song for Lady A to record and perform live out on the road, so she sent it to her bandmates, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood.  According to Charles, “The first time we had heard ‘Like A Lady’ – Hillary had written it with some friends and sent it. The first time I was like, ‘Oh, that’s nice. It’s kind of fun and it’s kind of catchy. And then I just kept listening to it. It was such a little earworm.”

Before long, Charles was going for a run with “Like A Lady” on repeat, and he eventually reached out to Hillary and said, “I know you might be surprised as a man how much I like this song.”

Ultimately, Charles decided, “I think it’s a hit, and we’ve got such a strong female fanbase too.  And I just knew it would resonate so much with our fans.”

Now Lady A can’t wait to add “Like A Lady” and their last #1 song, “Champagne Night,” to their concert set list, because they haven’t had a chance to play either one of them out live yet.

Charles Kelley – “The first time we had heard ‘Like A Lady,’ Hillary had written it with some friends and sent it. The first time I was like, ‘Oh, that’s nice. It’s kind of fun and it’s kind of catchy. And then I just kept listening to it. It was such a little earworm.”

Hillary Scott – “And then you went for a run.”

Charles – “I know, and I just listened to it over and over again, and I said, ‘I know you might be surprised as a man how much I like this song.’  But I said, ‘I think it’s a hit, and we’ve got such a strong female fanbase too.  And I just knew it would resonate so much with our fans.”
