CURRENT SINGLE: “Like A Lady”
When Lady A did their Las Vegas residency back in 2019, not only did they get to experience their own music in a more intimate, scaled back way, but they also took the opportunity to check out shows from other artists who were in town. “I went to see Justin Timberlake in Vegas, which was awesome,” recalls Hillary. “It was his last tour, Man of the Woods, where, like grass came growing out of the stage. It was crazy.”
Justin Timberlake’s concerts are always huge productions that cost a ton of money to put together, but Hillary laughs and says after seeing his show, “We go back to our production meetings, and I’m like, ‘We can’t do that?’”
Charles Kelley saw Shania Twain’s Vegas residency on one of Lady A’s nights off, and he says, “She came out on a big ol’ white horse, which was awesome. I mean anytime you go out to Vegas, you can dream so big out there because you don’t have to travel with all of this production.”
But getting to play their own less structured show at a more intimate venue allowed Lady A to leave Vegas with some challenging but doable ideas. “I think our favorite moments were the intimate moments out there in Vegas, and how do we bring some of those same concepts and moments in front of 15, 20,000 people? That’s a little more difficult, but we’re gonna try.”
Before having to cancel their Ocean Tour last year, Lady A talked about incorporating a more stripped down acoustic moment in their live show, which is something they still hope to do in the future, in between playing their party anthems like “Bartender” and their latest single, “Like A Lady.”
