DEBUT SINGLE – “Don’t Come Lookin’”
When you listen to the lyrics of some of Jackson Dean’s songs, they can get pretty deep and introspective and tap into some serious emotions. If you believed every song was about his life, you might even think he has suffered greatly for his art, but Jackson says, “I think it’s incredibly important that you live it. Of course you’re gonna write songs that are just made up, but the songs that really speak to people, I think, are the ones that you actually live.”
Besides writing the best songs from his own experiences, Jackson believes the other key to writing great songs is humility. “I think that’s really important to stay humble too,” he says. “I’ve never lived with more than two grand in my bank account, which is more than some people. But I’m not flashy. I like staying humble. It keeps me workin’ and movin’ forward and doin’ what I gotta do.”
While every song Jackson writes isn’t based on personal experiences, his debut single. “Don’t Come Lookin’” was directly inspired by what he used to say to his mom sometimes as a kid before he would head off into the woods. Jackson would tell his mom not to look for him if he didn’t come home, because it means he doesn’t want to be found.
