NOW STREAMING: “Huntin’ Season”
Mackenzie Carpenter knew from the time she was a little girl that she wanted to be a country music singer when she grew up. But rather than running to Nashville the first chance she got and diving head first into the music business, she enrolled in Belmont College in Nashville and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from their songwriting program, and she’s so thankful she did.
Mackenzie Carpenter – went to Belmont before career :42
“I honestly think that college was a security blanket for me because I was like, I can’t just move to Nashville. I know nothing about this industry. I know not one soul there. I don’t understand like, what this is I’m trying to do. I need somewhere to learn, and I don’t want to go and fall on my face to learn it. So, when my dad actually found Belmont, the Songwriting program, he was like, you can go do this. You can be in Nashville, you can learn it, figure it out. And like, that’s how I learned what a record label was, what a publisher was, management, all the pieces that started to come together. I got to learn them instead of just stepping into these rooms with these amazing people that are so successful and being like, I don’t understand this.“
Having that degree and all the knowledge she learned about the music industry has given Mackenzie the confidence she needed to launch her career, which she recently did with the release of her debut single, “Huntin’ Season.”
