NOW STREAMING: “Huntin’ Season” and “Jesus I’m Jealous”
When it comes to Christmas traditions and family recipes, Mackenzie Carpenter’s family may have one of the most unique ways of celebrating Christmas morning that we’ve ever heard of.
Mackenzie Carpenter – Christmas tradition :30
“We live right next door to my uncle, so my mom and her brother live right next door to each other. So, we grew up right next door to our cousins. So, every Christmas morning we’d go over to my Uncle Jay’s house and we make oyster stew. It’s like in a big bucket (laugh). It’s so good, like I promise you, it’s so good. We make oyster stew, and you crumble saltine crackers and hot sauce on top of it. And that is a big Christmas tradition in our family.”
We’re not sure how we’re feeling about oyster stew on Christmas, but we are definitely loving the new song Mackenzie just released called “Jesus I’m Jealous.” The song that ponders if it’s okay to pray at a bar is sung from the perspective of a young woman watching love and romance blossom all around her, wishing it were her time, but also holding onto faith that her story will unfold according to His plan.
