(AUDIO) Maddie & Tae Always Knew Being Singers Was Their Path

Growing up, Tae Dye of Maddie & Tae say being a singer was the only career path she ever considered. She recalls, “On Career Day, it was fifth grade and we had career day and everyone was talking about what they wanted be when they grow up and what college they would wanna go to, to achieve their dream. And so I went home and I asked my dad, I was like, ‘So, do have to go to college to be a singer?’ And he was like, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ And I was like, ‘OK, I’m not going to college’.”

Maddie Marlow says she always wanted to be a singer but never dreamed it could actually happen, so she considered things like being a lawyer, which she says, “Now I don’t think I could do. Law school, oh my gosh, like everyone who goes through that I’m like, ‘Ya’ll are amazing’ because I don’t know if I could do that. And then, I love kids, so I kind of wanted to be a teacher, if I wasn’t gonna do music, but I’m so glad that I get to do music because it’s something that I love to do every single day.”

Fortunately for them and for us, music is definitely proving to be the right choice. Maddie & Tae just celebrated their first #1 song with “Girl in a Country Song,” and now they’re following it up with their second single, “Fly.”

Tae Dye – “I never wanted to be anything else. On Career Day, it was fifth grade and we had career day and everyone was talking about what they wanted be when they grow up and what college they would wanna go to achieve their dream, and so I went home and I asked my dad, I was like, ‘So, do have to go to college to be a singer?’ and was like, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ And I was like, ‘OK, I’m not going to college’.”
Maddie Marlow – “I always wanted to be a singer, but I never thought in a million years it would actually happen, and so when it did start happening I was like, ‘OK, yep, this is what I want to do.’ But, growing up this was like on my little career day thing. I would either wanna be a singer or, for some reason, a lawyer, which now I don’t think I could do.
